Castor occupies about 8.29% of the total cultivable land in the Telandana region of Andhra Pradesh and is grown almost entirely as a dryland crop with quite poor yields. This study is based on survey and experimental work with 32 progressive and 64 non-progressive farmers in low villages in two districts in the region. The results of experiments reported indicate the great potential of recently evolved dry farming technology.
