Correlations between rice yield and yield components were calculated using Lerch's formula on a range of existing experimental data. A medium maturing with high yield potential was predicted to have approx. 418 panicles/msuperscript 2, 93 grains/panicle and a 1000-grain wt of 27.9 g in dry and rainy sowing seasons. There was no correlation between yield and number of panicles/msuperscript 2.
