Assessment of breeding lines and strains of spring barley for partial resistance to powdery mildew in the field

Two years of field tests were carried out on a collection of genotypes using natural infection in 1984 and 1985 and also artificial infection in 1984. Reactions to Erysiphe graminis ranged from fully susceptible to fully resistant. There were generally no differential responses to the 2 types of infection. No genotypic differences were detected in disease progression during the last 2 weeks of the outbreak.
