Assessment of energy and protein requirements for growth and lactation in goats

Assessment of energy and protein requirements for growth and lactation in goats

Proceedings of the IV International Conference on Goats March 8-13, 1987, Brasilia, Brazil Volume 2 Symposia Abstracts: 1229-1247

Evidence, progress, concepts and sources of variation in the assessment of energy and protein requirements for growth and lactation in goats are reviewed. Results from recent studies using empirical methods were compared with recommended requirements based on the factorial method. Empirical requirements were estimated by the response of gain and milk production in goats fed to appetite on complete mixed feeds with increasing energy and protein concentrations.
