Assessment of farm loan characteristics in Texas

Assessment of farm loan characteristics in Texas

Miscellaneous Publication, Texas Agricultural Experiment Station, Texas AandM University (MP-1636): 8

The paper relates differences in agricultural loan characteristics to different types of lenders in Texas. Major agricultural lenders in the state were surveyed: commercial banks, production credit associations, federal land banks, and life insurance companies. Survey results showed that interest rates charged on farm loans ranged from 8% to 14%. This difference, observed between types and classes of lenders, can be traced, in part, to the riskiness and size of loan.
