Assessment of high-protein barleys as initial breeding material

In a 3-year investigation, 35 high-protein cultivars from various sources were tested Aramir at Bakow with regard to yield and some of its components. Crude protein percentage (3-year means) ranged from 10.3 to 17.6, with all cultivars except HOR1997 surpassing the control Aramir (10.3%) significantly, though none approached Aramir closely in grain yield.
