Assessment of liver function from lipid, glycogen and protein in biopsy samples from dairy cattle



Monatshefte fur Veterinarmedizin 41(21): 721-723



Lipid, glycogen and protein values of 13 liver biopsy samples from dairy cows are tabulated. High lipid values were accompanied by low glycogen and protein values, and vice versa. The lipid:glycogen ratio is proposed as a means of assessing the degree of liver dysfunction.
