Assessment of medical glass resistance to the activity of mold fungi

An improved method for determining the resistance of medical glass to fungal attack was developed. Resistance was determined by recording changes of mass and physical state of silicate, phosphate, silicophosphate and aluminosilicate glass samples following 28 d exposure to the Penicillium chrysogenum and Scopulariopsis brevicaulis at 26 degrees C. The highest and lowest resistances to fungal attack were shown by silicate and phosphate glasses, respectively.
