Assessment of ovarian function in goats

Assessment of ovarian function in goats

Proceedings of the Fifth International Conference on Livestock Production and Diseases in the Tropics held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 18th-22nd August 1986: 76-78

Ovarian function of 48 multiparous Kambing Kacang goats was examined using laparoscopy and progesterone radioimmunoassay. Plasma progesterone concentration distinguished accurately between cyclic, acyclic, pregnant and postpartum anoestrous goats. The concentration in cyclic goats ranged from 0.14 to 2.0 ng/ml. Corpora lutea were observed in 10 of the 20 goats examined.
