Assessment of root and shoot limitation to nitrogen fixation in Phaseolus vulgaris L

Assessment of root and shoot limitation to nitrogen fixation in Phaseolus vulgaris L

American Journal of Botany 73(5): 619

This paper was presented at the annual meeting of the Botanical Society of America held at the University of Massachusetts on 10-14 Aug. 1986. The impact of plant developmental pattern on the effectiveness of symbiosis for N fixation was evaluated in inoculated P. vulgaris Sanilac and Puebla plants through the use of a cleft-clip procedure for reciprocal and self grafting. Comparison of DW accumulation in grafted plants suggested that allocation of DM was largely shoot dependent.
