Assessment of the colostral whey antigens against enteropathogenic organisms

A tube agglutination test was done between H- and O-antigens prepared from Escherichia coli K88 and Salmonella typhii and O-antigens from Shigella dysenteriae and antibodies in colostrum whey from buffaloes', cows' and human colostrum collected on days 1, 2 and 3 of lactation. Agglutination titre of antibodies from colostrum whey of the 3 species for all antigen preparations decreased significantly from day 1 to day 3 of lactation.
