Assessment of the risks of erosion in young oil palm plantations where food crop intercropping is practised based on the Wischmeier and Smith equation

Assessment of the risks of erosion in young oil palm plantations where food crop intercropping is practised based on the Wischmeier and Smith equation

Oleagineux 41(10): 419-428

The equation developed for assessing the amount of soil eroded, depending on the severity of the climate, soil erodibility, topography, the crop involved and the erosion control measures employed, is presented and discussed. Its application to different food crops (including aubergine, okra, maize and cassava) in association with oil palms is outlined.
