Assimilation and distribution rate of curative syrups in bee organism and in honey

Assimilation and distribution rate of curative syrups in bee organism and in honey

Comptes Rendus de l' Academie Bulgare des Sciences 38(8): 1097-1100

Honeybee colonies infested with Varroa jacobsoni were fed sugar syrup containing "pericine" and 14C-labelled glucose. Radioactivity in young bees reached a maximum of 316 counts per minute (cpm) in the sixth hour after administration, and remained high for the 7 days of the experiment. A similar but lower level was found in older bees. Larvae received labelled syrup from nurse bees in the first hour after it had been fed and their radioactivity counts increased to over 500 cpm.
