Association analysis for grain yield and some quantitative traits in popcorn

The present study was conducted with 24 genotypes of popcorn (Zea mays everta). Grain yield was positively associated with plant height, number of internodes, leaf area, tassel height, cob width, number of grains per row and number of rows per cob. Path-coefficient analysis showed that number of grains per row, plant height, cob width, leaf area and 1000-grain weight had positive direct effect on grain yield. The maximum positive direct effect towards grain yield was observed for number of grain per row.
