Association analysis of components of forage yield in fenugreek

A study was undertaken to determine the extent of variability and interrelationships of forage yield with six quantitative characters in 43 strains of fenugreek (Trigonella foenograecum L.). Significant differences among progenies were observed for all the characters. Significant and positive correlation of green fodder yield was observed with plant height, stem thickness and number of leaves per plant. Path coefficient analysis revealed that plant height, number of leaves per plant and stem thickness were the most important yield components. Selection programme based on these characters is suggested for further improvement.
