In a study of inbred lines differing in morphological characters and of single hybrids obtained from a 9 X 9 diallel cross involving some of these lines, correlation and path analyses indicated that rate of grain moisture loss during ripening was closely associated with length of the husk leaves and the extent to which they had dried out by the onset of physiological maturity, and also with the height of insertion of the ear.
