Association between synaptonemic complexes on sex-chromosomes and autosome bivalents in tx/ty male mice as a possible cause of sterility

Association between synaptonemic complexes on sex-chromosomes and autosome bivalents in tx/ty male mice as a possible cause of sterility

Genetika, USSR 24(7): 1187-1198

Electron microscope studies were carried out on stage I spermatocytes from t12/tw18, tw5/twpa 1 and twpa1/tw18 sterile mice and fertile C3H/N controls. Spermatocytes from sterile mice showed a high frequency (73%) of non-random associations between sex chromosomes and the synaptonemal complex of autosome 17, which carries an aberration in the region of the T locus. Such associations were absent in the controls.
