Association of an ornithine decarboxylase processed pseudogene with members of a V kappa immunoglobulin gene family provides a useful evolutionary clock

Association of an ornithine decarboxylase processed pseudogene with members of a V kappa immunoglobulin gene family provides a useful evolutionary clock

Nucleic Acids Research 15(17): 7199-7199

V kappa 19A, the gene encoding the variable region of the kappa light chain produced by the mouse plasmacytoma MPC 11, belongs to a relatively small family of V kappa genes that has presumably evolved by successive duplications of an ancestral progenitor. While sequencing some of the 5' flanking region of this gene, it was found that there is an oppositely oriented ornithine decarboxylase processed pseudogene ( psi ODC) located 1.5 kb upstream of the V kappa 19A cap site.
