Data from 215 Holstein-Friesian herds indicated that a change from low to high herd av. genetic and environmental values for milk yield was associated with lower age at 1st calving and av. age, fewer days open and fewer cows not pregnant 100 days after calving, more services per conception and more cows sold for dairy purposes, in addition to 2200 kg higher av. milk yield.
