Nitrogen application (as urea) at 125 and 250 kg ha-1 year-1 increased leaf N concentration in 13-year-old trees from 1.4% (control trees without N application) to 1.7% and 1.9%, respectively, reduced the percentage of fruits with undesirable yellow ground colour from 29.0% (control trees) to 14.3% and 9.0%, respectively, and reduced the percentage of fruits with an undesirable red blush from 29.8% (control trees) to 12.35% and 1.5%, respectively.
