Association of number of seminal roots and coleoptile length with economic characters of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Association of number of seminal roots and coleoptile length with economic characters of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Biuletyn Instytutu Hodowli i Aklimatyzacji Roslin (165): 49-56

In a collection of varieties and lines studied during 1981-84, number of seminal roots was correlated with number of days from 1 May to heading and with 1000-grain weight in spring forms, but in winter forms the correlation was weak and negative. Large number of seminal roots had a favourable effect on yield/ear, 1000-grain weight and earliness in spring forms mainly under adverse environmental conditions (spring drought).
