Association of transferrin types with weight gain in cattle

For approx. 300 calves with the Tf genotypes AA, AD, AE, DD, DE and EE, birth weight averaged 18.37+or-0.54, 16.49+or-0.22, 19.40+or-0.29, 17.47+or-0.22, 18.30+or-1.03 and 17.89+or-0.70 kg resp., and total gain to 3 months of age 21.22, 18.51, 18.25, 17.51, 15.47 and 15.32 kg; the differences between AA animals and other calves were significant (P<0.01).
