Association of yield with duration of growth period in short-strawed winter wheats

On the basis of results of Ukrainian trials during 1979-86, it was established that late varieties showed greater variability in yield than early varieties and were more often classed as low yielding. The least variable in yield were the midseason varieties equalling Odesskaya 51 in growth period duration or deviating from it by +or- 1 day.
