Associations among Fusarium wilt resistance, flower colour and number of flowers per fruiting node in chickpeas (Cicer arietinum L.)

Associations among Fusarium wilt resistance, flower colour and number of flowers per fruiting node in chickpeas (Cicer arietinum L.)

Journal of Agricultural Science, UK 110(2): 407-409

Crosses were made between genotypes differing in resistance to F. oxysporum f. sp. ciceri (resistant WR315 and BG212, late-wilting K850 and C104, and early-wilting JG62), flower colour and flowers/node. All the F1s had single, pink flowers, while the ratio of pink to white flowered plants in the F2 was consistant with segregation of a single locus, with pink dominant over white. The wilt reactions of F3 progenies segregated independently of the flower colour of the F2.
