Athletic exemplars in context: general exemplar selection patterns and relation to sex, race and age

Athletic exemplars in context: general exemplar selection patterns and relation to sex, race and age

Quest 38(2): 95-115

Human exemplars provide active displays of valued social relationships. The main focus of this paper is an examination of exemplar selection patterns. In order to situate the examination theoretically, hypothesized functions of exemplars are discussed and related to two processes: modelling and social interaction with reference to others.
