Atmospheric deposition of anions and cations at a basin mire in the Midlands of England

Atmospheric deposition of anions and cations at a basin mire in the Midlands of England

Chemicals in the environment: 144-150

Bulk precipitation was collected over a two-year period at Chartley Moss, near Uttoxeter, Staffordshire and analysed for dissolved ionic content. Precipitation was acidic and input of many dissolved ions are correlated with rainfall quantity. Average annual inputs of dissolvled ions were in the order SO4 > Cl > NO3 > Ca = NH4 > K > Mg > PO4 > Zn > H > Mn > Fe.
