In trials in sugarbeet at 4 locations in the Netherlands in which atrazine was applied at up to 4 kg/ha, overdosing with the herbicide often resulted in losses in root yields although sugar yields were only slightly affected. Overdoses also tended to increase potassium, sodium and alpha -amino N/100 g sugar.
