Attenuation of a strain of pseudorabies virus

Attenuation of a strain of pseudorabies virus

Chinese Journal of Veterinary Science and Technology (8): 5-7

An attenuated vaccine strain FB-180 of Aujeszky virus was developed from a virulent strain (Min A) by passage for 500 generations in hamster kidney (HK) and rabbit kidney (RK) cell cultures, and by a combination of plaque selection and a cryomutagenic method; it was again passaged for 180 generations in RK cell cultures at 32 degrees C. The lethality of the attenuated strain was not more than 35% in rabbits.
