Attitudes towards nudist and public beaches: some evidence of dissonance reduction and gender differences

Journal of Leisure Research 19(1): 13-21

Attitudes towards recreation in bathing attire and nudist beach recreation were studied using a semantic differential encompassing 17 concepts. Respondents were 333 public beach visitors (166 males and 167 females) and 353 visitors to nudist beaches (187 males and 167 females).
