Attraction of Lygus spp. males by conspecific and congeneric females

Attraction of Lygus spp. males by conspecific and congeneric females

Southwestern Entomologist, 122: 147-155

Interspecific attraction of the mirids Lygus hesperus, L. lineolaris and L. desertinus males to traps baited with virgin females of these species and with L. elisus was studied near Tucson, Arizona. L. hesperus males were attracted to conspecific females in significantly greater proportions than to congeneric females. L. lineolaris and L. desertinus males were attracted to females of these 2 species and to L. elisus in greater proportions than to L. hesperus.
