Augmentation of Chrysoperla sinica: storing overwintering adults for early spring release

Overwintering mortality of Chrysoperla sinica in northern China is generally high. Studies conducted during 1980-82 in Beijing provided methods to reduce the mortality of the overwintering adults to <7.5% after 4 months of storage. Laboratory-reared and field-collected overwintering adults were fed with the brewers' yeast diet and water before storage in unheated rooms throughout the winter.
