Augmentation of coccinellid beetles for controlling sugarcane woolly aphid

The coccinellids Synonycha grandis and Coelophora biplagiata were collected from sugarcane fields in Guangxi, China, and stored in the laboratory. The survival rate after about 5 months storage during the winter at 18-20 degrees C and 75-85% RH was 62.96-82.9% for S. grandis and 45.7-100% for L. biplagiata. The survival rate of the 1st and overwintering generation of S. grandis stored during the summer at 23-26 degrees C and 75-85% RH was 69.1 and 53.8%, respectively.
