Australian agriculture: its future structure and role

Structural changes in the Australian economy in both agriculture and other economic sectors are examined, in order to assess the likely structure of the rural sector and its role in the Australian economy in the year 2000. Some long-run historical trends influencing the economic performance of the rural sector are firt identified. Reference is then made to recent developments within agriculture and projections for major commodities into the 1990s.
