The capacity of on-farm permanent grain (wheat, barley, oats, sorghum) storage facilities in Australia in 1984/85 is estimated at nearly 10 Mt, 40% above the 1978/79 level. Most capacity is in the eastern states, which also have the highest bulk handling authority storage levels in relation to production.
