Autecology of different species of Stylosanthes Sw.: analysis of the distribution of energy and studies on seed biology

Autecology of different species of Stylosanthes Sw.: analysis of the distribution of energy and studies on seed biology

Autoecologia de diferentes especies de Stylosanthes Sw: analise da alocacao de energia e estudos da biologia da semente: 183

The study included 7 species and 2 botanical varieties. Colour polymorphism in testas of S. hamata and S. gracilis was related to differences in germination percentage. There was considerable variation in the percentage of hard seeds, which germinated with difficulty. Depending upon breeding objectives, selection of families with a high or a low percentage of hard seeds should readily modify this characteristic.
