Experimental trials of a harvester used behind a tractor took place in southern Slovakia on 35 ha of spinach (yield 10.6 t/ha). The height of cut is regulated manually between 10 and 40 mm. Analysis of the results showed an increase in sand content in the mechanically harvested crop from 0.84% (manual harvesting) to 1.32% and an increase in bruising, particularly of large leaves. High yield is required for the harvester to be effective.
