Available potash status of northern light soils of Andhra Pradesh and occurrence of potash deficiency in tobacco (N. tabacum L.)

Available potassium status of flue-cured tobacco growing light soils of northern Andhra Pradesh was evaluated by testing 1368 topsoil samples and an equal number of subsoil samples. Over 55% of these soils are likely to respond well to potash application. The available K status of soils of K sufficient sites varied from 255 to 364 kg K/ha while those from deficient sites ranged from 62 to 118 kg K/ha.
