Avian mycoplasmas: detection and control update

, : Avian mycoplasmas: detection and control update. Israel Journal of Medical Sciences 23(6): 771-772

Different probes are being developed to detect Mycoplasma gallisepticum. An rRNA probe as been shown to differentiate the vaccinal F strain from other strains. The F strain has also been shown to have polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis patterns distinct from other M. galliseptcum strains. ELISA, now available as commercial test kits, shows excellent promise, but non-specific reactions could be a problem.
