In trials in rice Starbonnet on a clay soil best control of Echinochloa crus-galli with fenoxaprop was obtained with 0.15 or 0.2 lb/acre applied over 3 years at the 5- to 6-leaf stage of the weed before or after flooding. A sequential treatment of fenoxaprop at the 3- to 4-leaf stage gave >95% control since the 2nd application coincided with the establishment of a permanent flood.
