Basic studies on the cooling of dried milk during pneumatic transport

An experimental system having a transport tube with a fan, electric heater and water-cooled heat exchanger and with a separator and a return tube entering below the heater, was tested in 19 trials using only air, in 12 trials with powdered soda glass and in 12 trials with dried skim milk. The overall coeff. of heat transfer with air alone increased with increasing air flow-rate and temp. and cooling-water flow-rate.
