Biometric characteristics of the increment of Scots pine stands affected by industrial air pollution from the Tarnobrzeg Sulphur Works

Biometric characteristics of the increment of Scots pine stands affected by industrial air pollution from the Tarnobrzeg Sulphur Works

Acta Agraria et Silvestria, Silvestris 24: 81-96

Analyses were made of d.b.h., b.a. (at b.h.) and vol. p.a.i. over 4 yr periods (1973-76 and 1977-80) in stands of age class II-V on moist coniferous sites in Buda Stalowska forest, southern Poland which were either (a) heavily or (b) weakly polluted. Data were highly variable for all 3 variables and distributions were positively skewed. Mortality was higher and vol. p.a.i. and b.a. p.a.i. lower by 4.3% and 7.6% respectively in (a) than (b).
