Biometrical studies on the variation of some morphological characters in Korean honeybees, Apis cerana F. and A. mellifera L

Biometrical studies on the variation of some morphological characters in Korean honeybees, Apis cerana F. and A. mellifera L

Korean Journal of Apiculture 1(1): 5-23

Biometrical studies on Apis cerana and A. mellifera from different localities in Korea gave the following results. The mean proboscis length (6.49 +or- 0.063 mm) of A. mellifera was much longer than that (5.33 +or- 0.044 mm) of A. cerana. The mean forewing length of A. cerana was 8.41 +or- 0.057 mm, and its mean forewing width 2.91 +or- 0.025 mm; corresponding measurements for A. mellifera were 9.06 +or- 0.11 mm and 3.08 +or- 0.024 mm, respectively.
