Building and testing traffic lanes for controlled-traffic farming

Use of an experimental 7.6 m wide gantry provided a practical and efficient means for compacting traffic lanes. In the soils tested, recessed lanes gave poor results. Elevated lanes were superior to level lanes because of higher net traction, higher tractive efficiency and lower sinkage.
