Cadmium chloride disks as a simple diagnostic tool for the identification of Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli

Cadmium chloride disks as a simple diagnostic tool for the identification of Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli

Israel Journal of Veterinary Medicine, 431: 42-45

A total of 274 isolates of Campylobacter jejuni and 25 isolates of C. coli from various sources were tested for their susceptibility to cadmium chloride applied in amounts of 2.5 or 20 micro g to filter paper disks. All the isolates were susceptible to the higher amount. Different susceptibilities among isolates from human, cattle and chicken sources were observed; they depended on the method of inoculation and on the brand of Brucella agar used in the assay.
