The changes of several cell constituents in the mid-gut of larvae of Bombyx mori infected with B. mori densonucleosis virus was investigated. Newly ecdysed 4th-instar larvae were fed for 48 h on an artificial diet surface contaminated with the virus. The weights of the larval body and dissected mid-gut were 64 and 71% lower than those of uninfected larvae, respectively, 9 days after inoculation, and 5 of 8 infected larvae survived to the adult stage.
