Composition of neutral components from gum rosin of Pinus sylvestris, Pinus nigra austriaca and Pinus pinaster

Composition of neutral components from gum rosin of Pinus sylvestris, Pinus nigra austriaca and Pinus pinaster

Holz als Roh und Werkstoff 45(8): 345-349

Carbonyl compounds and primary and secondary alcohols were separated from the non-volatile neutral diterpene component of the rosin of the 3 species, and the various fractions analysed by GC and GC/MS. The main constituents were resin aldehydes of the same structure as the free resin acids.
