Contribution to investigations on the properties of some maize hybrids for ensiling

, : Contribution to investigations on the properties of some maize hybrids for ensiling. Nauka u Praksi 18(1): 87-96

The maize hybrids PKB-633, ZPSK-704 and NSSK-825 from maturity groups 600/700 were sampled on 7 dates from 17 Aug. to 1 Oct. 1984 and analysed for contents of DM, ash, crude fat, CF, CP, NFE, DCP and FU (oats equivalent) and wt of stems, leaves, husks and ears/plant; PKB-633 was ready for ensiling on 6 Sep. with 35.84% ears, 32.07% DM and 0.326 HJ net energy/kg, while ZPSK-704 on 1 Oct. had 31.05% ears, 33.47% DM and 0.327 HJ/kg and NSSK-825 had 37.27% ears, 39.36% DM and 0.347 HJ/kg.

This work, which has been summarized elsewhere [see PBA 49, 987, 5765; 50, 323], showed that high yield was compatible with high protein concentration in either the vegetative tissue or the grains of certain progenies of a diallel cross involving...
