Tierarztliche Praxis 14(4): 527-532



PM examination of 300 rabies-negative cats in 1984-5, revealed the following causes of death: trauma (42), uraemia (38), feline panleukopenia (35), helminthiasis (28), pleuritis/pneumonia, mainly due to Pasteurella multocida (21), encephalitis of unknown origin (20), gastroenteritis (20), poisoning (18), Aujeszky's disease (15), bacterial diseases (15), feline infectious peritonitis (11), feline leukosis (8) and toxoplasmosis (3). 26 cases were due to miscellaneous or unknown causes.
