A survey of ectoparasites of migrating birds carried out around Lake Como, Italy, in 1984 included the following species: the ticks Haemaphysalis punctata, Ixodes ricinus and Argas persicus, the hippoboscids Ornithomya avicularia, O. chloropus and O. fringillina, the epidermoptid Microlichus avus and the proctophyllodid Proctophyllodes anthi.
