Contribution to the study of a haploid apple plant (Malus pumila Mill.). Descriptive study and comparison with clones of different ploidy. I. Vegetative characters: internodes, leaves and stomata

Agronomie 6(7): 659-664

Haploids derived from Topred Delicious by in vivo parthenogenesis (development from a cell of the embryo sac) were compared with related clones (diploid, triploid or tetraploid) all deriving from the parent cultivar Delicious. All 17 chromosomes of the haploid were metacentric or submetacentric. The internodes of the haploid were shorter than those of the diploid and triploid; those of the tetraploid were longer than those of the haploid, but shorter than those of the diploid or triploid.
